History of YKK
In 1960, YKK entered the United States zipper market. Originating in New York’s garment district with only four metal zipper styles in its line, YKK (U.S.A.) Inc. is now this country’s number one supplier of zippers. At the YKK factory site in Macon, Ga., 14 modern plants and over 900 employees produce 7 million zippers a day, in a total of 1,500 styles in more than 427 standard colors. It’s the largest zipper factory in the world. The Macon site produces its own brass to make the teeth and slider parts of a zipper. The same factory also produces and dyes the yarn that is woven into the fabric portion of a zipper. YKK also produces the machines that make the zippers! YKK controls every step of the manufacturing process to ensure the highest possible quality at the lowest possible cost. YKK products use the best material, made on the most modern equipment and are mass produced under extremely severe quality control. This attention to detail is why YKK is the most reliable and by far the most used zipper in the world!
Beware of YKK® Counterfeits
Because no zipper manufacturer can create the quality of YKK at the low price of YKK, counterfeit YKK zippers are becoming more and more of a problem. While counterfeits imitate YKK zippers in appearance, they don’t compare to the quality of genuine YKK. Protect your products and work by insisting on genuine YKK zippers. Protect your brand. Always insist on genuine YKK! Quality Zipper & Supply only stocks genuine, made-in-the USA YKK!
Beware of Discounted YKK® zippers.
Many distributors are selling discounted YKK zippers that you have to be aware of and this is why:
Many of these distributors that claim they are selling YKK products on the cheap are only telling half the truth as they are really a jobber that combine components and make the zippers themselves. Some of the components they buy, like the sliders, are YKK but many of these so called distributors assemble these YKK parts on cheaper generic zipper chain that they get from China. The slider says YKK but the chain is not. That is why many of these distributors are able to offer lower prices. The slider says YKK but the product is not made in a YKK factory by YKK workers which means that no quality assurances can be made on their zippers. There is no quality control and there is no way that they can back up the quality control paperwork and government safety controls that we can provide directly from YKK on all of the products that we, at Quality Zipper & Supply, Inc., distribute and quote to you. Every YKK zipper and YKK part we sell adheres to all of the quality control specs for use in clothing; all of the information and paperwork that verifies these specifications can be found on the YKK website listed here: http://www.ykkfastening.com/quality/index.html
